From CCC:  Pink Floyd’s iconic album “The Dark Side Of The Moon” will be on playing at SUNY Corning Community College’s Digital Dome Theater starting on May 8, 2026.
Originally released in March 1973, The Dark Side Of The Moon comes to the Digital Dome Theater for viewers to enjoy the album’s music set to stunning visuals in a 360-degree planetarium show. It’s a beautiful day in Steuben County. Fields have been plowed, docks are in the lakes and apple blossoms are in bloom. Soon it will be all green! Your Sheriff’s Office continues it’s diligent work to keep the peace in Steuben County. This month we will celebrate Corrections Officer Week and Police Week, culminating with our 11th annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service on Friday, May 15th at 6pm at the Public Safety Building. All are welcome to join as we honor those in Law Enforcement who made the ultimate sacrifice for their communities.
Our agency reorganization continues, with Deputy Tom Nybeck chosen to be promoted to Sergeant. Tom is a K9 handler, and has proven himself as both an informal and formal leader. I have every confidence that he is up to the challenge of Patrol Sergeant.
In April, we grieved with our colleagues at the City of Corning Police Department. Retired Chief Richard T. Faulisi passed away, leaving a legacy of policing spanning 40 years. He was instrumental in initiating the technological transition of the Corning Police Department in the 1990s. The loss of his leadership will be felt in our county.
April brought another busy month for our agency. We swore in a new SRO for the Corning Painted Post District, retired Deputy Todd Terwilliger. On April 8th we swore in Full and Part time Corrections Officers, Deputies, a Sergeant, Lieutenant and Undersheriff and an SRO! In the Corrections Division, eleven Corrections Officers completed the NYS DCJS Field Training Officer School. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office hosted the DCJS Basic Course for Corrections Curriculum Committee and the Inmate Classification 8-hour course which was attended by Corrections Officers Gilman, Mann, Jennifer Smith, Teeter and Wilcox. Lieutenant Wetherby, Sergeants Sciotti and Waight, along with Officers Audinwood, Burdell, Cox, Manley, and Jason Smith completed classes in High-Risk Transports, Cell Extractions and Tactical Supervisor from the NYS Tactical Officers Association. Major Sutton, Captain Mills and Lieutenant Thompson attended the New York State Sheriff’s Association Western Jail Supervisor meeting. Sergeants Sciotti and Waight completed the Patrol Rifle Instructor Course at the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy and Captain Mills attended the Law Enforcement Training Director’s Association of New York State Conference.
Dispatcher Clark with the “Emilee’s Challenge” trailer presented at the ESLETS Traffic Safety Conference in Saratoga, the No Empty Chair Campaign at Watkins Glen International, and several regional high schools promoting traffic safety.
Sergeant Kidder and Investigator Shepherd completed the mandatory NYS DCJS Course in Police Supervision. Deputy Nadjadi completed the Civil Deputy I Training. Investigator Brown completed the Active Attack Incident Management Course and the Patrol Less Lethal Impact Munitions Instructor course while Deputy Donahue completed the Tactical Threat Recognition and High Risk Warrant Service training by the NYS Tactical Officer Association. Deputy Swarthout and K9 Mac attended the NYS Department of Homeland Security K9 week. Deputy McCoy and K9 Tripp attended the National Police Bloodhound Association training and re-certification. Sheriff Allard attended the Western NY Sheriff’s meeting in Livingston County with twelve other Sheriffs. Sheriff Allard attended an Albany Press Conference regarding the Sheriff’s Association stance on the independence of the Office of Sheriff and to support the PROTECT ACT which is in committee in the NYS Legislature.

All of our deputies and officers performed in an outstanding fashion, and we received multiple commendations from the public regarding their outstanding performance.

We continue to pray for our first responder colleagues and deployed military across the globe, as well as their families. We also pray for the victims of mass casualty events and state sponsored aggression. Thank you for supporting the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office in these challenging times and stay safe!
