A Shooting Incident In Hornell

Additional Information About The Shooting Incident:

Hornell Police Chief Ted Murray says the two people who were shot in Hornell were actually from Rochester area. Murray also says the two victims originally told police that they were shot in Rochester, but the Rochester Police Department investigated further and eventually found out that the shooting took place in Hornell near the Hornell Plaza.  Also, Murray says there was only one bullet fired, which struck two people inside the vehicle which was driving away.  The Hornell Police Chief also says that the injuries were not serious or life threatening.   Michael Grimmer is currently in Steuben County Jail.  The shooting happened on April 21.

 

A Longtime DMV Employee Has Passed Away

Former Steuben County Department of Motor Vehicles Clerk Jim Kennedy, died Tuesday in Sayre Pennsylvania.  Kennedy worked for the DMV for 25 years.   Calling hours will be May 4 from 2pm to 5pm at the Fagan Funeral Home in Bath.  A celebration of life for Jim Kennedy will be held on May 5 at 11am  at the Fagan Funeral Home.  Jim Kennedy was 70 years old.

 

26 Dogs Were Removed From A Town Of Avoca Home

The Finger Lakes SPCA reports that they recently helped the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department remove 26 dogs from a home in the Town of Avoca.  The SPCA also says, eight of those dogs now have new homes but they say, if anyone wants to donate Purina dog food or make a monetary donation, it would be more than welcome.

 

Almost 200 VA Programs Receive National Accreditation

The VA says they’ve been analyzed by an organization called the Joint Commission.  Officials say that the Joint Commission gave accreditation to all the 176 VA programs that the commission looked at.  VA Secretary Doug Collins says President Trump is responsible for seeing to it, that  there have been some improvements to the VA System. 

 

Prattsburgh Central's School Budget  Info

Prattsburgh Central School Superintendent Kory Bay says the school’s budget set at $12,231,018 or a 0.75% increase over 2025-2026 budget.  Voting in Prattsburgh will be on May 19 from noon  until 8:00 PM in the school cafetorium.
