Steuben To Do Another Operation Greenlight

In recognition of Veterans Day, Steuben County will once again participate in Operation Green Light for Veterans, a nationwide initiative to honor the service and sacrifices of America’s veterans. Throughout the month of November, county buildings will be illuminated in green as part of this effort to show visible support for those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Operation Green Light, led by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, brings communities together to raise awareness about the challenges many veterans face and the resources available at the county, state, and federal levels to assist them and their families.

Gary Smith, Director of Steuben County Veteran Services said “. It is a great opportunity for the community to show their appreciation for our veterans in Steuben County by displaying a green light at their homes and businesses. This continued support of our veterans and the pride and patriotism in our communities is part of what makes what makes this such a great place to live”.

Now in its fourth year, the initiative continues to grow, with counties across the United States lighting courthouses, bridges, and landmarks in green as a unified symbol of appreciation. Steuben County is proud to join this national effort once again to recognize and support its veteran community.

Residents, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to participate by changing one light bulb in or outside their homes to a green bulb throughout November. Each green light serves as a simple yet powerful gesture to let veterans know they are seen, appreciated, and supported.

Counties and residents across the country are sharing their participation on social media using the hashtag #OperationGreenLight.
