Rose: County Route 14 In Howard Is Scheduled For Work
Steuben County Public Works Commissioner Eric Rose says County Route 14 (Campbell Creek–Bakers Gulch Road) in the Town of Howard will be closed to all traffic between Nicholson Road and Oak Hill Road on Wednesday, October 22nd, and Thursday, October 23rd, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day. The closure is necessary to allow the replacement of a drainage pipe. There will not be an onsite detour during this time, and motorists are asked to plan alternate routes accordingly. The Department of Public Works appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as crews work to complete this project safely and efficiently.
Has The Gov't Shutdown Affected Local Gov't?
Both Steuben County Chairwoman Kelly Fitzpatrick and Allegany County Chairman Brooke Harris say, the government shutdown has not negatively affected their county governments. Bath Mayor Michael Sweet says in terms of getting federal grants, it might possibly affect things but it has not as of yet. In Canisteo, Town Supervisor Joe Harrington says the shutdown is probably not affecting the Town of Canisteo either. Harrington says they are expecting FEMA money because of the August 2024 flooding there in Canisteo, but he is not sure if when the money was supposed to arrive.
