Bath Police arrested two men in connection to a 2024 knife-point robbery on West Steuben St.
After a lengthy investigation, Damian Vanvleck of Bath and Nathaniel Tucker of Hornell were indicted and taken into custody this September. Both face felony robbery charges, along with additional misdemeanors stemming from an initial report of a knife point robbery that was alleged to have occurred in the early morning hours of November 2nd, 2024. The suspects were arraigned and remanded to Steuben County Jail. Police say the incident was isolated and posed no ongoing threat to the community.

Drive Thru Rabies Clinic in Prattsburgh
There will be a Drive-Thru Rabies Clinic on Sunday from 10am to 12pm at the Town Hall/Clerk’s Office in Prattsburgh. Keeping pets up to date on their rabies shots is an important step for their health and Dogs, cats and ferrets can receive their first rabies shot at 12 weeks or older. They’re asking attendees to bring their pets to the clinic on leashes or in cages and a $5 donation per pet helps with clinic costs but is not required. The address for the drive thru clinic is 19 North Main Street in Prattsburgh.
Civil War weekend features living history & battle re-enactments, Angelica NY
History comes alive in Angelica this coming weekend as the town hosts its annual Civil War reenactment, running today through Sunday. Local vendors will be set up around the town circle, offering food, crafts, and memorabilia and the highlight of the weekend is a live battle reenactment on Saturday and Sunday. Action kicks off on Main Street at 1pm, both days, with the main battlefield event scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. behind the school. New York State is mailing out inflation relief checks to 8.2 million households
Governor Kathy Hochul says eligible taxpayers will automatically receive up to $400, based on their 2023 income. Single filers earning under $75,000 get $200, while joint filers under $150,000 receive the full $400. No application is needed, and checks will arrive through October and November. Hochul says it’s part of a broader plan to help families with rising costs, including tax cuts and free school meals.

Shorter days and morning fog reduce visibility, so use headlights appropriately and keep your distance from other vehicles. 2025 Wineglass Marathon Coming Soon
One week from tomorrow, the Wineglass Marathon is coming to our area for its 44th year. The Williams Toyota 5K begins on Saturday, October 4th and then the Guthrie Wineglass Marathon on Sunday, October 5th, which will begin in Bath. It will then proceed through the valleys of Savona, Campbell, Coopers Plains, Painted Post and then finish on historic Market Street in Corning.
Coin Show at Bath Fire Station
There will be a coin show taking place at the Bath Fire Hall, at 50 East Morris Street, tomorrow from 10-3. Admission and parking are free with a variety of coins, stamps and supplies being shown.
History of Comic Books – Kirk House
Coming soon, on Tuesday, October 7th from 6 to 7 PM, you can join Steuben County Historical Society Director and comic book collector, Kirk House, at the Dormann Library in Bath. Kirk will be giving a lively, illustrated talk on the origin and evolution of comics—from Superman to Archie, and Donald Duck to Wonder Woman, this is the story of “what they are...and how they came to be.” Registration is not required.
