Haverling Senior Playing in the NY School Music Assoc. All State Symphonic Band

Bath Central School District announced that Haverling Senior, Carter Brown, was recently invited to perform on the French Horn in the New York School Music Association All State Symphonic Band.  Carter will travel to Rochester to rehearse for three days prior to the concert that will be held on Sunday, December 7th 2025.  The Concert will be held at the acclaimed Kodak Hall in the prestigious Eastman Theatre in Rochester. The Eastman Theatre is one of the world's premier music schools and has been enriching musical life for many since 1921. 

Boaters Safety Course - September 27th

The Steuben County Sheriff's Office Navigation Division is hosting a FREE one-day New York State Boaters Safety Course on Saturday, September 27. The class will be held from 8:00am to 5:00pm at the Steuben County Sheriff's Office in Bath.  Participants must be at least 10 years old to attend and must pass a written test at the end of the session.  Seating for the class is limited to 30 persons and preregistration is required. The course is free of charge. However, New York State charges a fee of $10 for the boater's certificate which does not expire.  Register here: https://www.register-ed.com/events/view/234188

Street Paving - Hammondsport 09-22-25

The Village of Hammondsport announced that there will be paving taking place next week on Monday, September 22nd.  The paving will be on the following Streets: Bauder Street, Church Street and Liberty Park Street. 

Steuben County Historical Society Yard Sale 09-20-2025

The Steuben County Historical Society, along with other local historical societies, are hosting a 1-day sale of historical items.  It will take place at the Magee House that's 1 Conhocton Street in Bath, tomorrow from 10am –2pm.  There will be three categories of items to choose from, General items: including high school yearbooks and miscellaneous objects that do not fit the mission of the Steuben County Historical Society.  There will also be Collector items: including valuable books that do not relate to Steuben County History and new items: including new books printed by the Steuben County Historical Society and other authors.  Items will be priced to sell! 

Hammondpsort Heritage Day & FLBM Motor Workshop

On Saturday in Hammondsport there are multiple events taking place.  For boating enthusiasts, the Finger Lakes Boating Museum will be hosting a Boat Motor Winterization Workshop.  This will take place on Saturday at the Museum from 10am-4pm and signups are at FLBM.org.  Hammondsport Heritage Day will also take place tomorrow, as well.  From 11am-1pm the Fred & Harriet Taylor Memorial Library will host the day out on the lawn.  Representatives from the Glenn Curtiss Museum, Finger Lakes Boating Museum, Bully Hill Vineyards and the Towns of Urbana & Wayne will all be there to discuss the many people and institutions that helped shape Hammondsport. There will also be live music and grape stomping for kids.  Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to attend this free, family friendly event. 

Corning Harvest Festival And Ceremony for Duane Eddy

Corning’s Annual Harvest Festival, taking place on Market Street in the downtown area Kicks off tonight at 4pm.  Crowds are expected to be in the thousands throughout this free, two-day event. Market Street will be closed to vehicle traffic for stilt walkers, kids’ activities, live music, on-street vending, hayrides and more. Festivities begin at 4pm today and 10am tomorrow.  

Carseat Safety Check in Hornell

This Sunday, September 21, car seat technicians from Hornell Police Department and the Steuben County Sheriff's Office will be conducting a car seat check event from 9am - 1pm at the Hornell City Fire Department. Technicians will be available to inspect car seats as well as instruct parents and caregivers on how to properly install car seats and properly secure children in their car seats. 

Steuben County Historical Society Concert at Bath FD

Today at the Bath Fire Hall, The Steuben County Historical Society will present singer Brad Ordway with a series of historical Folk Revival songs from the 50’s & 60’s.  Historical Society Director Kirk House will also be in attendance to offer commentary of historical content. That again will be at the Bath Fire Hall today at 4pm.

SERVU Shred Days in Hornell & Bath

Protect your identity and shred your old documents for FREE at ServU Federal Credit Union’s Free Shred Days taking place tomorrow from 9am-12 noon at the Hornell Office and next Saturday the 27th at the Bath Office.  This FREE shred day is for personal shredding items only, not for businesses and attendees are limited to 5 boxes and asked to stay in their vehicles during the process as volunteers will remove your shredding items for you.
