A Longtime Local Firefighter Has Died
The Hammondsport Fire Department reports that longtime fireman Charlie Skinner has passed away. Officials say Skinner was a firefighter for over 50 years. "Today we lost a good one. 50+ years of volunteering in the fire service. Rest in peace to our beloved brother, Charlie Skinner."
Crane Work At A Bath School Building Today
Bath School officials say, that today, Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be no high/middle school front loop access due to a scheduled crane pick. All visitors should plan on accessing the middle or high-school during these three days by the high school library entrance or the loading dock/high school gymnasium entrance.
Paving And Grinding In The Village Of Bath Today
Today, Bath Street crews will be working on paving Chestnut Street from Geneva Street to the Steuben County Fairgrounds. Work is scheduled to last until 3pm and vehicles are to be off the streets in that area today. Also today in the Village of Bath, there will be grinding on East Washington Street between East Liberty and Campbell Streets. That’ll be till 3:30 this afternoon. Also today in Bath, there will be an event called “Thinking Money for Kids”, at the Dormann Library. Thats for kids, ages 3 – 12, and it starts at 3pm today. Children will be taught the importance of budgeting, saving and spending through stories and games. It’s a program sponsored by the American Library Association.
The DOT Warns Truckers About Bridge Accidents
The New York State D.O.T. put out a statement saying that truck drivers need to be very careful when driving under bridges. The D.O.T. says, a truck drivers GPS won’t tell you your truck’s height, or the bridge’s height either. That online statement also has a video of trucks after they’ve smashed into bridges.
