Sweet: Very Happy With The Turnout For NYF

Bath Village Mayor Michael Sweet says last Friday was the last day for turning in applications to get in on the $4.5 million dollars Bath won, from the state’s New York Forward contest.  Sweet was very pleased at the number of people who applied.
The Bath village mayor lso says if those who applied are approved, they’ll get some of the $4.5 million dollars for their business.

 

Tonight's Music In The Park Event: 90's Alternative

Music in the Park in the Village of Bath tonight will be 90’s cover band, Unoriginal Gravity.  That’s this evening in Pulteney Park in Bath from 6pm-8pm.   A popular Hornell singer, John Lewis, will be sitting in with Unoriginal Gravity this evening. 

 

NYSP:  A Prattsburgh Man Is Facing 86 Charges

FROM NYSP:  The New York State Police announce the arrest of Kyle Marshall, age 23, from Prattsburgh, NY, following a comprehensive child exploitation investigation conducted by SP Bath Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Troop E Computer Crimes Unit, Troop E Forensic Investigation Unit, SP Bath, and SP Wayland Uniform Force. The investigation originated with a referral from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

On July 3, 2023, State Police executed a search warrant on 8154 County Route 77 in the town of Pulteney as part of an ongoing child exploitation investigation. During the search, numerous electronic devices were seized for forensic examination by the Troop E Computer Crimes Unit (CCU).

Following a Superior Court Warrant issued by Honorable Chauncey J. Watches returnable to the Steuben County Court, on July 18, 2025, Marshall was charged with:

  • 43 Counts of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child (D Felony)
  • 43 Counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child (E Felony)

Marshall was processed at SP Bath and transported to Steuben County Jail.

 

Two County Fairs Are Coming Up Soon 

The Chemung County Fair will be held July 29-August 2, in Horseheads.  The Steuben County Fair will be August 11 through August 17 at the county fairgrounds here in Bath.


Senator Chuck Schumer's Recent Military Legislation

Democrat US Senator Chuck Schumer has secured $54 million dollars for the Niagara Falls Air Force Reserve Station.  That’s to build a combined operations alert facility there. Schumer has also gotten $18 million dollars for construction projects at the Army Base at Fort Drum.  Schumer says half of the money will be used to build a new aircraft hanger at Fort Drum.  The other half of the $18 million dollars will be used to build housing for Army units stopping by Fort Drum, who are not stationed there.

 

A Long Island GOP Congressman Drops Out Of The Governor's Race, Leaving The Path Clear For Elise Stefanik

The NY Times reports this morning that Congressman Mike Lawler (R, Long Island) has announced he is going to make another run for the House of Representatives and will not be pursuing a race for Governor in New York State.  Click here for the full story from the NY Times.
