The Wine Country Classic Boat Show
The Wine Country Classic Boat Show is this weekend in Hammondsport. Organizers say, boats will begin to be docked today and early Saturday morning. The Wine Country Classic Boat show beings at 9am Saturday at Depot park. There will be 38 antique boats docked and several more on display on land, in Depot Park. The parade of boats will take place at 3 pm Saturday. After that there’s an awards dinner Saturday evening. Then on Sunday there will be an exhibition of the “no octane” regatta.
The Public Referendum In Campbell, Did Not Pass
There was a public referendum held on Wednesday evening, about whether to build a new fire station, for the Campbell Fire Department. The referendum did not pass, there were 68 yes voters, 102 no votes.
Langworthy: The Advantages Of The OBBB
Republican Congressman Nick Langworthy says, Thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill, over 400,000 New York State residents will keep their jobs. Langworthy also says, workers across the state can expect a real wage increase of $4,400–$8,000, with take-home pay rising by as much as $11,700.
Gillibrand: Why Are There Cuts To The CFPB?
Democrat US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand says, the cuts to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau are not helpful. “Every day, seniors fall victim to devastating scams that strip them of their life savings and steal their private information,” said Senator Gillibrand. “The federal government must do more to stop scammers and protect older adults. As the top-ranking Democrat on the Senate Aging Committee, I am calling on the Trump administration to develop and implement a strategy to fight scams and to stop making cuts to federal agencies doing this critical work. I look forward to working across the aisle to fight for our seniors.”
