Severe Thunderstorm Warning Until 6pm This Evening

FROM READY STEUBEN:  The National Weather Service says, there is a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:00pm.  At 5:04pm thunderstorm was located near Haskinsville.  HAZARD.  60 miles per hour wind gusts and quarter size hail.  IMPACT.  Hail damage to vehicles is expected.  Expect wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.  Locations impacted include: Bath, Urbana, Howard, Pulteney, Wheeler, Wayne, Avoca, Bradford, Cohocton and Hammondsport.

 

The Lake Salubria Sewer District
Here is a Lake Salubria sewer district update.  Steuben County IDA Director Jamie Johnson says, the bidding process is still going on.  "The packets were received and they are in the process of being reviewed by the engineering firm, Hunt Engineers," Johnson tells WVIN News.  "Once they get the answers to some questions they had, the bids can be awarded and construction can begin, later this year," Johnson said. 

 

Good News For The Elmira-Corning Regional Airport

Congressman Nick Langworthy says, the Elmira Corning Regional Airport is getting a $700,000 grant.  Langworthy says, he’s glad to help the FAA secure these grants.  "Specifically, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded an AIP grant to the Town of Erwin Industrial Development Agency to fund the final phase of construction at Corning-Painted Post Airport," Langworthy said. "This project will rehabilitate 3,269 feet of an existing paved runway to maintain the structural integrity."

 

JT Central School Board Welcomes A New BOE Member

Jasper Troupsburg School Superintendent Jason Oliver says, at their school board reorganizational meeting this week, Mitch Bullock was sworn in as a new school board member.
