Steuben Rural Electric To Do Drone Inspections

FROM STEUBEN RURAL ELECTRIC:
Over the next few weeks, our contractor, Zeitview, will be conducting drone inspections across our service area. These inspections will focus on three-phase power poles, wire, and surrounding vegetation. The drones will be flying during daylight hours and will help us improve system reliability and identify potential maintenance needs. There is no action required on your part.
Zeitview, with decades of experience in aerial inspection solutions, will utilize aerial inspection technology to provide a comprehensive evaluation of each facility’s components, hardware, and electrical equipment. This advanced approach surpasses traditional ground-based patrols by identifying critical reliability issues such as damaged equipment, evidence of deficiencies, leaking current, and other potential hazards. By implementing an aerial inspection program, Steuben REC can proactively detect defects before failures occur, ultimately reducing unexpected outages and minimizing operational costs. The aerial inspection solutions leverage cutting-edge technology and expert analysis to deliver superior data, enabling Steuben REC to make informed, data-driven maintenance decisions that enhance system performance and longevity. Small drones uncover issues that are not visible from the ground by getting an unprecedented birds- eye perspective.  Steuben REC is leveraging Federal grant funding to accomplish this inspection, at no cost to our members.
