Statement From The National VA - That A Gov't Source Has Discussed With WVIN News Today

The VA in Washington DC issued a statement announcing that there has been 1400 layoffs of probationary employees in the VA system.

A government official familiar with the situation says they’re hearing that this is affecting the Bath VA too. 

Another source in government says, they’re hearing that many of the probationary employees are being cut at VA’s.

Steuben County Clerk Judy Hunter is providing a free new tool to help property owners protect one of their most valuable assets.  Deed and/or mortgage fraud occurs when someone illegally transfers a property’s title or mortgage. The criminal impersonates the owner to sell the property or take out a loan.

 

With Fraud Alert, individuals can sign up to receive alerts whenever a document, such as a deed or mortgage, is recorded under their name in the Steuben County Clerk’s Office. Documents can be viewed at the County Clerk’s Office.

 

“This is an easy way for homeowners to have peace of mind,” said County Clerk Judy Hunter.

Boat Drinks, Is This Saturday In Hammondsport

In Hammondsport this Saturday at the Finger Lakes Boating Museum in Hammondsport, there’s going to be a Jimmy Buffet style event called Boat Drinks.  The event will go from 3:00pm-7:30pm this Saturday, March 1.

 

No Charge For Tonight's Girls Basketball Game In Avoca

At Avoca Central School this evening at 6pm, the Avoca- Prattsburgh girls varsity basketball team will be taking on Northstar Christian.  Avoca Central School officials say, there will be no admission charge for this evening’s game.

 

Bath Central School Event 

The Bath School District is having a Social and Emotional Learning Family Fun night.  That will be Tuesday of next week, March 4, at the middle school cafeteria, from 6pm to 7:30pm.  School officials say that families of all ages are welcome.

 

Concert Scheduled For March 11, At Campbell-Savona

At Campbell Savona, there will be a concert on March 11 at 7pm.  It’ll be the 5^th and 6^th grade choruses and that will be in the Stephen B Morley Auditorium at the school.
