Urbana Town News Update

Urbana Town Supervisor Dave Durepo says, that he’ll at a meeting with Governor Hochul and other town county and state leaders, on Tuesday March 4, to hear the latest on the New York State budget.  Supervisor Durepo met last week with Assemblyman Phil Palmesano and Senator Tom O’Mara  and Congressman Nick Langworthy on January 31.  Local issues were discussed.  Dave Durepo also says he should know more on the New York Forward money, Urbana and Hammondsport won together, by mid-May. 

 

Battle Of The Badges Is This Saturday At LECOM 

Battle of the Badges set to return to LECOM Event Center, Elmira.

The Elmira Fire Department and Chemung County Law Enforcement will be facing off on the ice this Saturday. The game is FREE and open to the public. Donations will be accepted at the gate, and will go towards a local charity.

Last year, Law Enforcement took home the bragging rights. Who will take the title for 2025! This community event started back in 2017.

The Cameron Pond To Close In Three Weeks

Cameron Pond will be closing on March 17 and will reopen later in the year.  That’s according to the Department of Environmental Conservation.

 

Addison Fire Dept's Pancake Breakfast Is Saturday

The Addison Fire Department will be having a pancake breakfast this coming Saturday morning 7:30am to 11:00am at the Masonic Lodge in Addison.  It’ll be $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children ages 5 to 10, free for kids under age 4.

 

Police Officer/Monroe County Native, Slain In Virginia

Two police officers were killed in a shooting, in Virginia recently, that was during a routine traffic stop. One of the Virginia  Police Officers was a 25 year old graduate of Gates-Chili. WHEC Rochester reports that 25 year old Cameron Girvin, who leaves behind a wife, who is expecting.  Click here for full story.
