New York State Prison Protest Update

Late last week and over the weekend, Congressman Nick Langworthy Assemblyman Phil Palmesano and State Senator George Borrello visited prison workers who are protesting outside of correctional facilities.  Palmesano went to Elmira Correctional and Five Points, in Seneca County.  Borrello went to Attica and Collins.  Langworthy visited Collins Correctional.  All three Republican officials support the prison workers and the three say that the conditions for corrections officers, have been next to impossible.  Governor Kathy Hochul has ordered the guards back to work and her corrections commissioner told prison workers that the state would temporarily ban the HALT Act.  Prison guards don’t like the HALT Act because they say it makes it difficult to discipline inmates.  However, word is, the protests continue today.
