County Legislature Will Hold A Special Meeting Tuesday
There will be a special meeting of the Steuben County Legislature tomorrow morning. The county is expected to pass a resolution in opposition to the state power authority’s plans to raise rates on electricity coming out of the Niagara Power Project in Lewiston. Kelly Fitzpatrick also says that Bath Electric Gas and Water and Steuben Rural Electric both get electricity from the Niagara Power Project.
Rep. Nick Langworthy Votes Yes On HR 26
Congressman Nick Langworthy was a yes vote on House Resolution 26, the Protecting American Energy Production Act. This legislation forbids the president from banning fracking unless congress authorizes a moratorium on it. Fracking was banned in New York State, 2014 by Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Allard Meets The Top Lawmakers At The US Capital
Sheriff Jim Allard was in Washington DC last week, meeting with Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, Congressman Langworthy, Border Czar Thomas Homan and possible GOP candidate for governor, Congressman Mike Lawler. The sheriff says he was pleased that leaders from both parties listened to his concerns about bail reform.
