FROM THE BATH FIRE DEPT: The Bath Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for a possible structure fire, with smoke coming from the eves at 9:21 am Thursday February 6, 2025. That was 6649 Route 415 just south of the village. When Bath Chief Mike Fiordo pulled up on scene he noticed black smoke coming from both ends of the Structure which he then upgraded the call to a working structure fire and started his second box. That started mutual aid from Bradford, Hammondsport, Painted Post, Savona, Kanona, Wayne, Bath VA Fire, Steuben County Investigations Team, and Bath Volunteer Ambulance.
First unit on scene was Bath Engine 7. The interior crew pulled one hand line and made an initial attack on the fire. Within 12 minutes the fire was out and under control. Many responding units were turned away and went back in service with the thanks of the Bath Fire Chief. The fire investigation team assembled on scene and started their investigation. The fire is considered still under investigation until further review.
Bath units were called back in service at 11:47 am.
Wind Update: CanisteoThe Biggest - Prattsburgh The Last
The Canisteo wind project will be the largest one in the state, once it’s built. That’s according to Steuben County Industrial Development Agency Director Jamie Johnson. The County IDA Director says Prattsburgh might probably be, the last wind project for Steuben County. Johnson says, that's unless things change. "Once that one gets built, we'll probably be out of the wind business in Steuben County," Johnson said yesterday. "Unless the technology changes and shifts, and they can harness a lower amount of wind to make projects work," Johnson stated. The Prattsburgh wind project will also have wind turbines in Wheeler, Avoca and Howard. Howard has had another wind project going for about 20 years now.
