Hammondsport Ambulance Dept To Dissolve
The Hammondsport Ambulance Department has submitted a request to the county and to the state, to dissolve the Hammondsport Ambulance Department. County officials will have the Steuben County supplemental emergency medical crews handle incoming emergency medical calls for the time being. Also, Steuben County Public Safety Director Tim Marshall says Hammondsport residents are not taxed to pay for ambulance service, and that the Hammondsport Ambulance crews are a non profit volunteer ambulance operation. WVIN News is also told that the ambulance dept. in Hammondsport is separate from the Hammondsport FIre Department.

Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter is thanking Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard for being in a video to talk about initiatives for first responders. Sheriff Baxter says, Sheriff Allard was a key figure who was interviewed in this new video.

Langworthy: Don't Start A Panic About Air Traffic Hiring

Gillibrand, Hochul, James Are Speaking Out About Tariffs
Democrats US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Governor Kathy Hochul and State Attorney General Tish James all put out statements over the weekend, saying that Republican President Donald Trump was making a big mistake by pushing for tariffs against Canada and Mexico. Gillibrand, Hochul and James all say the tariffs will make prices go up in the U.S.
"Communities across New York depend on federal funding for key resources, ranging from firefighting equipment to nutrition programs for seniors," Gillibrand said.
From Gov. Hochul: “New York State is the economic engine of the country… This is going to be an additional tax on New York residents and American residents overall, and I don't see a way around that."
From State Attorney General Leticia James: “The public servants who go to work every day to care for New Yorkers and keep them safe rely on federal funds to do their jobs. This administration is putting New Yorkers in danger by pushing massive cuts to resources that support our most vulnerable communities and public safety efforts statewide. I am leading a coalition of attorneys general to end this destructive policy, and I thank Senator Gillibrand for her partnership as we fight to protect these funds that keep our communities safe.”
