From Steuben Co Emergency Services DIrector Tim Marshall: Forest View Gang Mills Fire Department was dispatched early Thursday morning at 02:45 a.m. to a residential structure fire at 2396 Morningstar Trail in the Town of Erwin. First units arrived to find a fully involved structure fire. Mutual Aid was provided by several area fire departments. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Steuben Co Sheriff's Dept To Do Blue Envelope Prgm
Sheriff Jim Allard tells our news department that the Steuben County Sheriff's Office is going to be taking part in the Blue Envelope program. That’s where people with autism keep a blue envelope in their vehicles in case they get pulled over. In those situations, the driver gives the envelope to the officer, so law enforcement knows how to understand the driver’s situation more clearly.

Claudia Tenney: We've Got To Renew The Trump Tax Cuts
Republican Congresswoman Claudia Tenney who represents some towns in this area in Steuben County, Tenney says the Trump tax cuts will expire at the end of this year and she says, the Trump tax cuts are worth renewing. "Nothing has been better," Tenney said last Friday. "Every business I've talked to says it too. I have not spoken with any business person yet who was against the tax cuts. Trump targeted small businesses with his tax cuts plans and had provisions in them for small businesses. All but the richest people in our communities got a tax cut. Jobs were added. Investments were made. It was a great thing for our communities. Those tax cuts expire at the end of this year and we've got to renew them."
Hornell's Mayor To Run Once Again
Hornell Mayor John Buckley (R) announced on Saturday that he’s excited to be running again for mayor. This will be John Buckley’s third run for the mayor’s job in Hornell. Before that he was the 8th ward alderman for almost a decade. About 75 people were there for the announcement, along with Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, Sheriff Jim Allard and other notables.
Gillibrand: Not So Sure That Tarrif's Are A Good Idea
Democrat U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand says she’s got a concern about getting too tough with Canada by putting tarrifs on them. "A lot of our manufacturers across Northern New York State, rely on inputs from Canada to do their manufacturing," Gillibrand said. "That will mean that the goods that they produce are going to be expodentially higher in cost, which means that costs are going to be put on Americans, by American companies. So, it';s definitely not what Trump intended," the senator said late last week.
