We have been reporting that Fairbrother Road in Cohocton was going to be closed in early February.  However, officials from Cohocton now say that due to further damage, it closed down as of now.

 

The Back Story On How Ryan Corbett Was Released 

Dansville resident and Taliban hostage Ryan Corbett was released earlier this week.  Here are more details on what led up to his release.  Ryan’s wife Anna flew to the president’s home in Florida, where Congresswoman Claudia Tenney just happened to be meeting with the president.  Tenney found out that Anna Corbett was standing outside of Mara Largo and the congresswoman set up a meeting between Trump and the Corbett, to speed up Ryan’s release.   The meeting was a success and Ryan was released within several days.  

 

There Are More Solar Projects Than You Might Suspect

In Thursdays's news, Wvin reported on how there were possible plans for solar panels in Avoca, both the town and village.  Today. we can tell you that one Steuben County small plane pilot says, when he flies around over the area, he’s amazed at how many there are, that you don’t see if you’re driving around.  "The thing is, when you fly over Steuben County, you can see from up in the air, solar panels in fields which you cannot see from just driving around, said Larry Jones of Arkport.  "That's because the solar panels are deep into fields and in some cases, covered by hedges," said Jones.

 

Sen Kirsten Gillibrand: Helping Those Who Need Child Care

Senator Gillibrand says, she’s trying to pass the Child Care Workforce and Facilities Act, to address the shortage of affordable child care centers.  The senator's legislation calls for making federal funds available to those wanting to build child care centers or get licensed to do so professionally.  The senator also says, this has been a major problem since the pandemic, that people are unable to find a local child care center, due to child daycare centers being shut down during the height of the Covid.
