MLK Day 2025 Has Arrived
There are Martin Luther King Jr Day events at the Corning Museum of Glass today. That starts at 10am with readings, and there will be more readings at 11am and noon today at the museum. There will also be free admission into the Corning Museum of Glass today in honor of the Dr. King holiday.
Extreme Cold Through And Including This Wednesday
Governor Kathy Hochul says the extreme cold is going to be bad through the middle of this week. The governor says, New York State residents are not strangers to the extreme cold, but to be ready for it for the next three days. and if you’re on the thruway today, Hochul says there are 354 large and medium sized plow trucks, 10 tow plows, 65 loaders and over 113,000 tons of road salt.
The PAT II Captain To Speak At Boating Museum Event
The next Coffee Chat at the Finger Lakes Boating Museum will be on Thursday February 13, and they’ll be having the captain of the Pat II, talk about it’s restoration and it’s return to hosting passengers on Keuka Lake.
Langworthy Hopes To Get Farm Bill Passed This Year
Republican Congressman Nick Langworthy says the Farm Bill is going to be reintroduced and is going to be a lot better with the Republicans having the majority. Langworthy also says, he’s got legislation in the 2025 version of the Farm Bill to help grape farmers with insurance during freezing weather and dairy farmers with uncertain market conditions by allowing dairy farmers to get more insurance for their milk production.
Gillibrand And Schumer Tell Trump: Dump SALT
Democrat US Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand are asking President elect Donald Trump to permanently remove the cap on the SALT or state and local tax deduction, so that state residents can put more money in their pockets. The senators say that the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act capped the SALT deduction at $10,000 per year. The senators also say, the SALT deduction cap has cost the state as much as $12 billion every year since it took effect in 2018. CBS News reports that Trump wants to extend his 2017 SALT deduction cap.
