Addison Fire Dept. Now Has A Vending Machine With Overdose Reversal Related Products Inside Of It

Steuben County Public Health officials say, the Addison Fire Department now has a vending machine with life saving things inside of it, such as: Narcan, Fentynal test strips and Xylaline test strips.  Xylazinek in case you’re not familiar with it, is an animal medicine used as a street drug, that causes people’s skin to rot.

 

Memorial Service For Elmira Police Officer 

From Sheriff Allard:  On January 8, 2025, Steuben County Sheriff’s Deputy Hawley and Correction Officer Hawley attended the graveside memorial service in honor of their father/grandfather, fallen Elmira Police Department Sergeant John Hawley on the 41st anniversary of his tragic passing in the Line of Duty, killed in 1984. We thank the Elmira Police Department for continuing to honor the late Sgt. Hawley’s memory; and we offer our thoughts and prayers to him and the Hawley family for the ultimate sacrifice he paid in the Line of Duty.

 

Gov. Kathy Hochul's 2025 State Of The State Speech 

Governor Kathy Hochul gave her State of the State speech yesterday.  Hochul talked about a number of plans, including more meals in school cafeterias at no extra charge to the students or their families, and the govenrer talked about expanding child tax credits.  SenatorTom O'Mara, in his response, said, "“New York State is not stronger, safer, saner, or more affordable under Governor Hochul and all-Democrat control of the Legislature, and there’s no true turnaround in sight. Governor Hochul puts forth an ‘affordability agenda’ chock-full of giveaways, higher and higher spending commitments, and flashy new programs that will only keep making New York a more expensive state in which to live, work, do business, raise a family, and pay taxes. There will be no let up for the middle class under all-Democrat, one-party control of New York government."
