The Finger Lakes Boating Museum in Hammondsport, will be having coffee chats, once a month. The first coffee chat will be this Thursday, January 16, at 10:30am at the Finger Lakes Boating museum on Pleasant Valley Road in Hammondsport. There will also be coffee chats in February and in March at the Finger Lakes Boating Museum.
Thurston Is Working On A Law, About Waste Rules There
In the Steuben County town of Thurston, a public hearing on Local Law 2, setting up a one year moratorium on Solid Waste Management Facilities, this public hearing will be on January 22 at 6:45 pm at the Thurston Town Hall. The Town Board is looking to prohibit, for one year, fthe local and/or state approval of permits, or expansion of, or opening of any Solid Waste Management Facility.
Steuben Co Sheriff Jim Allard Warns Of A Recent Scam
Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard says there’s an increase in scam calls, where scammers impersonate law enforcement and make it appear as if the call is coming from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office. The most common scam lately, involves the callers being told they missed a court appearance, that they were facing charges and will be arrested unless they send money by paypal. The Sheriff wants to remind the public that Steuben County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call you asking for money related to missing court or any other legal matters. If you receive such a call, hang up, and report it to the law enforcement.
Rep. Claudia Tenney vs State Farmer Overtime Rules
The new farmer overtime pay rules, went into effect on January 1. and Republican Congresswoman Claudia Tenney is working to undo that new law. Tenney is working to pass a law that overtime for farmers cannot be less than 60 hours a week. Under current state law that just went into effect, anything over 40 hours a week is considered overtime.
Schumer Says IUOE Union Is Getting Their Pensions Back
Democrat US Senator Chuck Schumer says, the upstate New York International Union of Operating Engineers will get about $85.5 million dollars to restore pensions for over 6400 union workers. Schumer says, these are the people who operate bulldozers, backhoes and graders at construction sites and he says, he’s proud to help them get their pensions back.
