More Details On Bath's Uniform School Times Plans
Bath Central School District officials say, in September, the primary, middle and high schools in Bath, will be starting the day and ending the day at the same time. Bath School Superintendent Kelly Howk tells WVIN News that the Vernon Wightman Primary School, will most likely be starting and ending the day about 30 minutes earlier, while the middle school and high school will be starting and ending their day about 30 minutes later. Superintendent Kelly Howk says, the end result will be that the three schools will start and end at the same time. Again, this will start in September. There will be several informational meetings about this next week.
Update On Last Week's House Fire Victims In Corning
From the Corning Fire Dept: On Monday, December 30, 2024, the City of Corning Fire Department responded to 192 Chestnut Street for a structure fire with entrapment. Firefighters arrived on location two minutes from the time of dispatch and found a two (2) story apartment building with fire on the first and second floors. Four children and 1 adult were rescued from the second-floor apartment and transported to the hospital by American Medical Response (AMR). Two firefighters sustained minor injuries while extinguishing the fire. All five of the civilians have been released from area hospitals and are expected to make a full recovery. The two injured firefighters have both been cleared and have returned to duty. The affected residents are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental in nature.
The County Is Updating Their Hazard Mitigation Plan
Steuben County Legislative Chair Kelly Fitzpatrick says the county is working on what they call, a Hazard Mitigation Plan. This will includeof emergency response plans, in case of a weather emergency, such as a flood or microburst. Fitzpatrick also says, putting this hazard mitigation plan together, will take about a year and a half, to two years.
Hammondsport Winter Parking Reminder
Hammondsport Village officials say, please remember to keep your vehicle off the streets when it’s snowing outside, and to remember to have your car off the streets between 2am and 6am. Village officials also asked Hammondsport resident to remember to keep your sidewalks shoveled, but they also say, please don’t shovel the snow on to the streets.
