Dana Lyons School/Apartments Update

Bath Village Mayor Mike Sweet says he expects construction to start as soon as either today or tomorrow, on the Dana Lyon Apartments Project in Bath.  "This housing is intended for the working class people," Sweet said on WVIN's Community Focus.  "People who are in entry-level positions who can't afford outrageous rent, and don't want to live in sub-par housing. So that's what this housing is for."  

 

It's Capital Project Voting Day In Hammondsport

The Hammondsport Capital Project vote is going on from 12pm until 8:00 tonight, voting is in the elementary school gym.

 

Woman Sentenced To 17 Years In Steuben County Court

In June 2020, a 100 year old Corning man, World War II veteran Gerald Early, was beaten to death with a hammer.  Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker says the suspect, 55 year old Brenda Lee McKay, pleaded guilty in October to Manslaughter in the First Degree.  She was sentenced yesterday by Judge Watches, to17 years in prison.

Shop With A Cop 2024 Gets Going In Steuben County

Sheriff Jim Allard says Deputy Kennedy took part in the “shop with a cop” program.  The sheriff says, after the shopping trip, deputies take a child out for a meal and fun activities.

 

Do You Want To Be A Firefighter?  Job Opening In Hornell

There is a firefighter job opening with the Hornell Fire Department.  Officials there say, the job duties also require EMT work.  Officials say, you should be an EMT, going into the job.
