Winter Weather Advisory From 10:00 Tonight Till 4:00 Fri
FROM THE NAT'L WX SERVICE:  * WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 5
  inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE...A portion of central New York.

* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 4 AM EST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow
  could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions
  could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Embedded snow squalls may reduce visibility
  to near zero at times Thursday morning. Winds will become
  increasingly gusty Thursday, as the event transitions to lake
  effect snow.

 

Wind Advisory Is Going On Until 9pm 

Wind Advisory issued December 4 at 4:50AM EST until December 5 at 9:00PM EST by NWS Binghamton NY

DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...West winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts 45 to 50 mph expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania.

* WHEN...From 7 AM to 9 PM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree

limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow showers and squalls will be possible Thursday morning, accompanied by brief gusty winds. Winds will then shift to the west and increase through the day, with peak

gusts occurring in the afternoon Thursday. Winds will also cause blowing and drifting of snow where accumulations occur.

INSTRUCTIONS: Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high

profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

NYSUT Wants Kids Off Cell Phones In Schools 

New York State teachers union NYSUT says, they’ve met with and are calling on Governor Kathy Hochul, to ban cell phones and similar devices in schools, from the time that the bell rings in the morning, until the bell rings at the end of the school day. This request from the state teachers union, came from a September 20 NYSUT meeting where they talked about how over 80 percent of educators want this policy passed statewide.

 

Governor Kathy Hochul: Two Wind Projects In Steuben Co

The governor says contracts have been executed for 23 alternative energy projects and that includes the Barron Winds Project, which will be in Cohocton, Fremont and Wayland.  The governor also says contracts have been executed for the Invenergy project in Canisteo.    "The payments under the contracted projects will only begin once projects are constructed and begin delivering renewable energy to New York after obtaining all required permits and approvals. Several projects have already commenced construction activities, and all projects are expected to be operational by 2028," said Gov. Hochui.  "The State will continue to emphasize and enhance engagements with the projects’ host communities.  "NYSERDA offers resources and no-cost technical assistance to help local governments understand how to manage responsible clean energy development in their communities, including step-by-step instructions and tools to guide the implementation of clean energy, permitting processes, property taxes, siting, zoning, and more.  For details on the contracted projects, visit the NYSERDA website.

 

Corning Inc's Mobile Dentist Vehicle

Corning Incorporated, along with Rochester-based Mosaic Health and Chemung County, officially launched a new mobile dental unit at a ribbon-cutting yesterday at the Corning Inc, Big Flats facility.  This unit will take care of patients at Steele Memorial Library, in Elmira.  Click here for more info.
