Schuyler County officials say, there’s a scam going on.  It’s a gift card scam, targeting senior citizens. The scammers call up and tell the older adults to go out and buy a gift card and then tell the scammers the card number and pin number.

In colder weather, parents typically dress their children in winter coats. But it’s important to know that heavy coats can interfere with the proper harness fit on a child in a car seat. When your child will be secured in a car seat, pick thin, warm layers, and place blankets or coats around your child after the harness is snug and secure for extra warmth.

Gillibrand Supports Social Security Legislation

Democrat Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is pushing to get a law passed so that police, firefighters and teachers are not denied Social Security payments after retiring.  From Sen. Gillibrand: 

 Senator Kirsten Gillibrand held a virtual press conference urging the Senate to pass the Social Security Fairness Act, bipartisan legislation that would increase Social Security benefits for 2.5 million Americans, including thousands of police officers, firefighters, teachers, and other government employees who have dedicated their lives to serving their communities. Current law reduces Social Security benefits for workers who receive pensions based on earnings from employment that is not covered by Social Security and its payroll tax, meaning that government workers who hold non-governmental jobs during their careers are unfairly penalized. The Social Security Fairness Act would repeal these provisions that reduce Social Security benefits and would provide retirees with the full payments they are owed.  The bill passed in the House."  Congressman Langworthy and Rep. Tenney were yes votes.

Prattsburgh Central officials say that on Monday, November 25th and Tuesday, November 26th, they are having noon dismissals for all students in grades UPK through 12.  That’s because of parent teacher conferences.  Also, no school on Wednesday, November 27 through Friday, November 29 for Thanksgiving recess.
