Veterans Day 2024 Events In Bath Today
At 11am, there will be a special ceremony, honoring veterans.  That will be at the Bath American Legion on West William Street.  State Senator Tom O'Mara, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, Steuben County Legislative Chair Kelly Fitzpatrick will be attending this event.  There will also  be a concert at the Bath VA Auditorium in Building 92 at 1pm today.  At the Bath V event, there will be 45 minutes of patriotic music from the Commonwealth University Mansfield Mountaineer Brass Band. 

 

New Technology For Trains - To Be Built Here In Bath

A new type of battery engine for trains is going to be developed over in Bath.  Steuben County Industrial Development Agency Director Jamie Johnson says Alstom has been working on this since May, with NS, that’s Northfolk Southern.   The new batteries will be built, at the Kanona Alstom facility in Bath.  

 

A Corning Inc Expansion Up In Canton, NY

US Senator Democrat Majority Leader Chuck Schumer says Corning Incorporated has reached a $32 million dollar agreement to expand their facilities up in St Lawrence County, New York.  Schumer says this will lead to a lot of good paying union jobs there from Corning Inc.

 

Gov Hochul Sends Help To Areas With Wildfires

Governor Kathy Hochul  has sent numerous DEC and Troopers and firefighters to put out fires in Ulster, Sullivan, and Orange counties.   “With recent drought conditions, there have been multiple wildfires ignited across the state, and we have deployed state assets and agencies to coordinate with local first responders in fighting these fires while closely monitoring air quality as a result of them,” Governor Hochul said. “The safety of all New Yorkers is my top priority, and I urge everyone in impacted areas, especially those vulnerable, to stay alert, monitor air quality, and take necessary precautions to stay safe.”
