The Larry Schoonover Case Is Winding Down

Closing arguments are scheduled for today in Steuben County Court, for the Larry Schoonover trial.  Schoonover was charged in August 2023, for allegedly firing numerous gunshots at officers from several law enforcement agencies, outside his home, on Roosevelt Avenue in Bath.  

 

Cornell Cooperative Extension: The Annual Meeting
Cornell Cooperative Extension officials met for their annual meeting recently.  That was in Savona.  Over 100 people attended.  From Edward VanStine: 

Over 100 community members, volunteers, and local leaders gathered at Mud Creek Bison Ranch to celebrate the incredible impact of local volunteers, organizations, and partners. Highlights included the expansion of the Veggie Van program, a successful Farm Trail Day, and the launch of the Agriculture in the Classroom program, reaching 7 school districts!

Steuben County Public Works Commissioner Eric Rose says, the transfer station in Erwin, will be closed to commercial users starting Monday November 11.  

Home Heating Finanical Aid Is Available
The county social services office says applications to get home heating financial assistance is now available.  You can apply in person at the county office of social services, 117 East Steuben Street in Bath.   Or you can call, 607-664-2500.

 

Sheriff Jim Allard: Another Boating Safety Class
There will be a free one-day New York State Boaters Safety Course on Saturday, November 9th4. The class will be held from 8:00am to 5:00pm at the Steuben County Sheriff's Office. You must be at least 10 years old to attend and must pass a written test at the end of the session.
