Schoonover Jury Selection Continues Today

Jury selection in the Larry Schoonover trial started yesterday and jury selection will continue today.  Schoonover is in Steuben County Jail and has been since the August 2023 standoff incident on Roosevelt Avenue in Bath. 

 

Early Vot ing Continues As Well In Steuben County

Early voting is going on now.  Locally it’s at the County Annex Building on 20 East Morris Street in Bath.  There are also early voting locations in Hornell and Corning.  Early voting hours are 9am to 5pm weekdays, except today (Tuesday) and Thursday, when early voting in Bath is 9am to 8pm.

 

A Hornell Police Sgt. Receives A Commendation

Hornell Police Sgt. Investigator Tom Aini has received a commendation for helping end a police chase.  Officials say there was a wild chase going on in Hornell and that Investigator Aini pulled in front of the suspect’s vehicle to block it,   Sgt. Aini suffered minor injuries in doing so.  Hornell Mayor Buckley says Investigator Aini, prevented the suspect from driving any farther, and because of that, prevented the suspect, who was driving erratically, from causing any harm or injury.
