Bath Resident Injured In A Weekend Fire In Yates Co
Finger Lakes Radio News reports that Shane Jensen, 40, Bath, was injured in a fire on Saturday morning in the Town of Dresden. According to the Finger Lakes News, the Himrod and Branchport/Keuka Park Fire Departments provided mutual aid/standby, and Yates County, Penn Yan, Middlesex, and Gorham ambulances also responded to the scene.
A Bad House Fire On Sunday Night In Avoca
On last night’s fire in Avoca at 13 Alexander Street. It was a structure fire, called in, in the 8:00 hour Sunday night. Fire departments from Kanona, Wayland, Cohocton and Bath responded. Bath Ambulance was also called to the scene. The Bath VA Fire Department was on stand by, as was the Howard Fire Department. NYSEG was notified. The house at 13 Alexander Street in Avoca was said to have been severely damaged. Officials tell WVIN News that no injuries were reported.
FROM THE AVOCA FIRE DEPT:
Last night, shortly after 8 PM, our crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Alexander Street in the village of Avoca. Avoca Chief Chris MacDougal and Assistant Chief Mitchell Slayton were the first to arrive, finding the rear of the two-story house fully involved. A response was requested from Bath, Kanona, Wallace, and Cohocton. A Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) was requested from Pulteney for standby. Crews were able to knock down the fire while Bath’s ladder truck performed roof ventilation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
No one was home at the time, but sadly, two dogs perished in the fire. The American Red Cross was called to assist the affected family.

Steuben County D.A. Brooks Baker says, jury selection is this morning in the Larry Schoonover case. The trial is expected to start some time today after jury selection is complete.

Early voting numbers so far: In Steuben County on Saturday, 2045 people took part in early voting, on Sunday, 1220 early voters came out and cast their ballot. That's according to the Steuben County Election Commissioners.
