Jurors Are Being Chosen, For The Larry Schoonover Trial

Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker says, jury selection started yesterday and continues this morning for the Larry Schoonover case.  Schoonover is accused of firing gunshots at law enforcement on Roosevelt Avenue in Bath, during a standoff, in August 2023.  Schoonver is facing multiple counts of 1^st Degree Attempted Murder of a Police Officer.   

 

BEGWS Office Will Be Closed Tomorrow, Thurs, Oct 3

Bath Electric Gas and Water says, their office is going to be closed tomorrow, while they make improvements to the front doors at the office there.  Bath Electric Gas And Water also says, the dropbox will still be available to customers.  

 

Pillar Of The Addison Community, Frank Bieleski, RIP

Longtime Addison teacher, coach, firefighter and Addison Village Board member, Frank Bieleski, has passed away.  Bieleski died September 24^th at a medical center in Virginia.  There will be a celebration of life on October 24^th at 4:30pm at the Addison American Legion.  Frank Bieleski was 71 years old. 

 

Federal Funding For Healthcare Professionals Training

Congressman Nick Langworthy says, the Chemung, Skyler, Steuben Workforce has been awarded $100,000 in federal funding, to support the Expanding Workforce Participation Project.  Langworthy says this new funding will allow C.S.S. Workforce New York to help train healthcare professionals.  The congressman says this will help in staffing hospitals and clinics in the region.

 

Langworthy’s opponent, Jamestown Democrat Tom Carl, is speaking at the State University of Fredonia, the Chemung County Democrats and at Park Church in Elmira.

 

Wineglass Marathon Update: Two Notable 2024 Speakers

Alexi's bestselling memoir-in-essays, “Bravey,” has impacted the cultural conversation around mental health. Most recently, Alexi gave a talk on mental health and high performance at the Pentagon by invitation of the Army Resilience Directorate to soldiers worldwide.

Alexi Pappas and Bart Yasso will be the featured speakers at the Pasta Dinner at the Radisson Hotel Corning on Saturday, October 5th, at 5:30 pm. Past dinner ticket sales are being handled online. A limited number of tickets will be sold at the door based on availability. Tickets are on sale, $45/ticket. Runners can purchase tickets through their RunSignUp account.
