Missing Bath Teenage Boy, Has Been Located 

New York State Police report that 17 year old Caleb Hick has been found and is alive and well.

Troopers: Corning Suspect Threw A Machete At One Of Us

FROM NYSP:  On September 25, 2024, troopers from SP Painted Post responded to Gridley Road in the town of Caton for a disturbance.   When troopers arrived, they interviewed Dana L. McCarrick, age 49, of Corning, NY. During the interview, McCarrick grabbed a machete, which was located in a box, and displayed it toward the trooper. McCarrick was given several verbal commands to put the weapon down when he threw the machete forward toward the trooper, attempted to flee and resist arrest. 

McCarrick was taken into custody and transported to SP Painted Post for processing. He was charged with Crime of Terrorism: Menacing a Police Officer (C Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd (D Felony), Menacing 2nd (A Misdemeanor), Resisting Arrest (A Misdemeanor), Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd (A Misdemeanor), and Criminal Contempt 2nd (A Misdemeanor). He was taken to Steuben County Jail for CAP Arraignment. 

Also, McCarrick is being held in the county jail, without bail.  

 

Palmesano: There Is An October 7 Deadline For Storm Damage Victims To Turn In Their Paperwork 

Assemblyman Phil Palmesano says, Steuben, Yates, Ontario and Allegany County flood damage victims, need to have their forms in to the New York State Homes and Community Renewal Office by October 7.   Palmesano also says, his office can help you out with these forms.  Palmesano’s Bath office number is 607 776 9691.  

 

Mitch Alger Named As The New County Finance Commish

Steuben County Legislative Chair Kelly Fitzpatrick says Mitch Alger has been appointed as the new county finance commissioner.  Alger, up to this point, had been the deputy finance commissioner.   

 

Several Local Props On The Ballot For The November Vote

There are several local propositions in Steuben County, that are going to be on the ballot, for the November elections.  In the Town of Pulteney, there’s a prop to change the amount of the budget for the library, by $4,950 to $54,000.   In Rathbone, there’s a proposition on whether to make the highway superintendent’s job an appointed position.  Right now it’s an elected position in Rathbone.  And in Thurston, there’s a prop on changing the length of the terms of the town supervisor and town clerk, from two years to four years.
