Emergency Village Hall Meeting Tonight In Avoca 

Avoca Village Mayor Eric Tyner says, there will be an emergency meeting tonight at 7:00 at Avoca Village Hall.  As soon as the meeting starts, the board will go into executive session to discuss a village employee. 

 

Update On The Larry Schoonover Court Case

Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker says the Larry Schoonover trial will begin on September 30th.  Schoonover is accused of getting into a standoff with State Police, Bath Police and the Sheriff’s Department in August of 2022 on Roosevelt Avenue in Bath.  Schoonover who has pleaded not guilty and his lawyer is Steuben County Public Defender Terry Baxter.  

 

Dormann Library Friday Event Is Cancelled For This Week

Officials with the Dormann Library in Bath say, the Friday Madness event for teens, has been cancelled this week, that's because the library in Bath is closed tomorrow.

 

Steuben County Board Of Election: Voting Info Updates

The County Board of Elections says they are having local voter registration day on September 28 at the county office building in Bath from 2pm-9pm that day.  The Steuben County Board of Elections also says if you have applied for an absentee ballot and have not received it yet, your ballot should arrive in the mail by October 1.  Also, people can still register to vote and the last day for the county board of elections to receive your registration to vote, is October 26.   

 

Veterans Event In Elmira Today From 10am-1pm 

The VA is having a veterans event in Elmira from 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.  Veterans will be able to come and apply for VA benefits as well as VA health care.  They will also have free military surplus items, food from the Food Bank of the Southern Tier and a free lunch from the Elmira Pioneers.
