The Bath Volunteer Fire Department put out a reminder about driving safely with students being back in school locally this week. Also, the Bath Fire Department is having a fundraiser tomorrow. That will be from Noon-4:00pm at the fire station. There are a limited number of tickets and it's first-come, first served, at the door.
There Was A House Fire Yesterday Over In Canisteo
Canisteo Fire Chief Don Lewis says it happened in the 1:00 hour Thursday afternoon, and that it was a first floor bedroom fire. Fire Chief Lewis says the fire department was able to stop the fire from spreading. He’s also thanking North Hornell and Greenwood’s fire departments for their assistance.
State Police Report Stolen Vietnam Vets Grave Markers

FROM NYSP: The New York State Police in Canandaigua are investigating the theft of approximately 40 U.S. Veteran brass grave markers at the St. Patrick's Cemetery located at 990 High Street in the town of Victor, New York. The larceny occurred between September 1, 2024, and September 2, 2024.

State Required Boater Safety Class Being Given Tomorrow
The Steuben County Sheriff's Office Navigation Division will host a one-day New York State Boater's Safety Course tomorrow, from 8:00am to 5:00pm at the Steuben County Sheriff's Office, on Rumsey Street, Extension in Bath. You have to be at least 10 years old to attend, seating is limited and pre-registration is required. There is no charge to sit in on this class. The state charges $10.00 for the boater's certificate – unless you’re less than 18 years old. To sign up for the class call the Sheriff's Office today at 607-622-3930.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand says this ensures that more New York State families have access to the health care they deserve – without breaking the bank. Both Schumer and Gillibrand say, the Inflation Reduction Act made it possible for this money to be coming into New York.
