State Police Report That Extra Patrols Are Out Today, As The Long Holiday Weekend Is Coming To A Close
State Police have extra patrols out today looking for drunk, impaired and reckless drivers today. Troopers say there is always heavy traffic on Labor Day weekends and an increase in accidents, serious injuries and fatalities across the state on these holidays.
Prime Time Ballers - Who They Are And How They Are Helping Out Steuben County Towns After August Flooding
This morning we reported on the radio, on how a Rochester area media company, Prime Time Ballers, was doing a big awareness campaign about storm damage in Steuben County, and how Prime Time Ballers brought a U-Haul and four SUVs filled with hundreds of bags and boxes of donations to Canisteo late last week. The latest there is, Prime Time Ballers says, the Webster/ Schroeder High School Hockey program, to bring three school bus loads of donations to Canisteo, later this week.
Prime Time Ballers covers high school sports in the Rochester region. They began in 2005, as a high school basketball camp organization and evolved into an anti-poverty, anti-racism group, which also does a lot of coverage of high school sports in the Rochester region.
Corning Got Through The Weekend W/Out Major Flooding
The National Weather Service issued a statement last Friday night about a Flash Flood Warning for the Corning area. Fortunately, there have been no reports of weekend flooding in Corning, the City or the Town. That information comes from the fire departments for the Corning Fire District, the Corning City Fire Department and Steuben County Emergency Services Director Tim Marshall.

Wvin has been reporting lately on when local schools are having their first day back this week. One thing we’ve learned is that with the storm damage at Jasper-Troupsburg from the Tropical Storm Debby remnants, Jasper Troupsburgs first day back will be Thursday of this week, September 5. Also, grades Pre-K – 6th grade will be in Troupsburg and grades 7-12 will be in Greenwood. That's according to JT School Superintendent LeeAnne Jordan.
Langworthy: The Elmira/Corning Airport To Get Almost $1 Million Dollars, For Work On A Runway There
Congressman Nick Langworthy says, the Elmira Corning Regional Airport is getting about $950,000 for airport improvements. The funding will go specifically towards runway lighting and signs. Rep. Langworthy says, the airport is a vital transportation hub for the region and the money will go towards redoing the lighting and signs on one of the runways.
Gov Tells NY Times Her Thoughts On Social Media And The Youth, The Governor Is Also Attending An Energy Summit
Governor Kathy Hochul did a podcast interview with the NY Times recently about the dangers of the addictiveness of social media for the young. Also, the governor will be taking part in an alternative energy summit this Wednesday and Thursday in the City of Syracuse.
