Flash Flood Watch Is In Effect Until 2am Saturday

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for...

Western Chemung County in central New York...

Yates County in central New York...

* Until 330 PM EDT Friday.

* At 929 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 1 inch of rain has already fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.   HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.   SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...Elmira, Corning, Hornell, Penn Yan, Watkins Glen, Dundee, Montour Falls, West Elmira, Southport, Big Flats, Horseheads, Bath, Elmira

Heights, Starkey, Campbell, Benton, Urbana, Canisteo, Caton and Lindley.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.  Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National

Weather Service when you can do so safely.

 

Bath Police Are Part Of The NYS STOP DWI Campaign 

The Bath Police Department is taking part in the statewide Stop DWI Summer high visibility campaign.  This law enforcement campaign began yesterday and this will end this Sunday, August 11. 

 

Veterans Salute To Take Place During The County Fair

The Steuben County Fair starts on Monday August 12.  And on Tuesday afternoon starting at 2pm, the Daughters of the American Revolution will be having a veterans salute.  "We will have on Tuesday afternoon, the Daughters of the American Revolution will have a salute to our veterans from 2:00-4:00,' Steuben County Fair Manager Nick Pelham tells WVIN News.  "That will be in front of the Grandstand at the Steuben County Fair.  So we encourage everybody to come down and participate in the salute to our veterans," said Pelham.  

 

Graduating On A Great Note At Haverling 

Students from the Haverling Class of 2024 announced today that in their last official role as seniors, they made out two checks: one to the SPCA, one to Camp Good Days and Special Times.
