Steuben County Attorney Jennifer Prossick has submitted her resignation.  No other details available at this time.

 

Sheriff Jim Allard Is Quoted In A National News Story 
Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard is quoted in a new national NBC story about the importance of doing good background checks when hiring new employees at the sheriff's department.

The quotation from Allard, to NBC News reads: “I am a big believer that the size of the agency doesn’t matter. It’s whether or not you establish best practices and adhere to them, said Allard, who employs about 165 officers — a mix of jail guards, road patrol and school safety officers. “If you hire the wrong person, you’re going to spend so much more time and effort to get rid of them than you will in five background investigations.”

 

Langworthy Announces Funding For Elmira Project

Congressman Nick Langworthy says the Tanglewood Community Nature Center in Elmira has been awarded a federal grant of $1 million . The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) says the money will be used for the Tanglewood Canopy Walkway, a project that aims to enhance tourism and boost the local economy in the Finger Lakes region.

 

Want To Be A Trooper?  You Can Sign Up For Testing
Governor Kathy Hochul says that the New York State Police are now accepting applications for the Trooper Entrance Examination. Testing for candidates will begin on August 15.
