The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southwestern Steuben County in central New York...

* Until 945 PM EDT.

* At 638 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms
  producing heavy rain in Greenwood area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches
  of rain has already fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Woodhull, Jasper, Troupsburg, Greenwood, Young Hickory,
  Willeyville and West Greenwood.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Steuben County's Sticker Store Legislation Is Being Examined By County Officials Today

Some Steuben County officials took a look at the new county legislation on Sticker Stores.  County Legislative Chair Kelly Fitzpatrick says, the new sticker store legislation will be voted on at next month’s meeting. 

 

Changes To School Shooting Mock Drills In New York State

The Albany Times Union reports that the State Board of Regents is banning realistic looking, mock drills, of shoot shootings.  Also, schools have to notify parents a week in advance that there’s going to be a school shooting drill.

 

Steuben County Mobile Food Pantry/Food Bank Update 

The Steuben County Mobile Food Pantry will be starting up runs on August 1^st.  The mobile food pantry will be in Bath every first Thursday of the month from 10am to11am.

Reaction To President Joe Biden Dropping Out Of The Race  From Steuben County Republican Chair Joe Sempolinski: “Joe Biden obviously did the right thing by getting out of the presidential race. It was clear to anyone who watched the presidential debate that Joe Biden was not going to successfully complete the second term.”  

From Steuben County Democrat Chair Shawn Hogan: " Joseph R. Biden is an American Hero, never can his honor or his devotion to this country and its people be questioned.”  Also, Governor Kathy Hochul and US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand are endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
