Another Great Year For Tyrtle Beach Fundraising 

This year’s Tyrtle Beach fundraiser brought in almost $30,000.  Steuben County Youth Bureau Chief Bill Caudill made the announcement on this morning’s Community Focus.  "This year, with Braden making the jump into Lake Salubria, she did a great job, raising $27,594.00,"  Caudill said.  The county youth bureau leader also noted that there was a total of 138 donations this year, made to Tyrtle Beach.   http://tyrtlebeach.com/

 

Bradford Man Is Charged For Allegedly Stiking An Officer

Bath Police say 41 year old Aaron Barnard of the Steuben County Town of Bradford, is accused of striking a Bath Police Officer in the face.  Officials say he allegedly tried to choke that officer too.  Police say that happened while they were reportedly breaking up a domestic dispute situation on Chestnut Street in Bath.   Barnard is charged with assault in the second degree, criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest and harassment in the second degree. Both Aaron Barnard and the injured officer were taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.  Police Chief Colin Taft says the officer was injured in his face.  Barnard is being held in the county jail.

 

The D.A.: On Ghost Guns In Steuben County 

Are ghost guns a big problem in Steuben County?  WVIN asked that question of Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker.  "In Steuben County, we have heard about them," Baker said.  "We've heard about them from our law enforcement circles and undercover officers.  I don't believe we have ever seen one used in a crime here in Steuben County, though we did make one prosecution of a Corning suspect who was accused of selling ghost guns," Baker explained.    

 

New BOE Pres/BOE Vice Pres, At Prattsburgh Central 

At  Prattsburgh Central there are two new school board heads.  Stephanie Randall is the new school board president at Prattsburgh Central, Joel Sanford is the new vice president of the Prattsburgh School Board.  That's according to Prattsburgh Central Superintendent Kory Bay.

 

Monroe County Native Dies In The LIne Of Duty In Ohio

Jamison Ritter was a Cleveland Ohio Police Officer who was killed in the line of duty in Cleveland on July 4th reportedly, by a suspect  who is accused of killing his own grandmother.  Ohio media outlets and Rochester media outlets are both reporting that Ritter was from the Monroe County town of Webster, and graduated in 2015 from McQuaid Jesuit High School. Ritter also graduated from Syracuse University in 2019.  Ritter’s funeral will be this coming Saturday at the Browncroft Community Church in Rochester.
