Fire In Urbana In The Midnight  Hour

The Bath Fire Department reports that they were called out as mutual aid to Hammondsport's district for a structure fire.  That was on Cold Springs Road in the Town of Urbana.  The Bath Fire Department sent one engine and crew out at 12:36 am and Bath returned at 2:31 am. 

 

Corning Inc's Having A Great 2nd Quarter

Corning Inc CEO Wendell Weeks says, for their second-quarter, they expect core sales of about $3.6 billion dollars, compared with previous guidance of about $3.4 billion. Weeks also says the outperformance was driven by the new optical connectivity products for Generative A.I.

 

Senator O'Mara Gets Bath VA Employee In The State Senate's Veterans Hall Of Fame 

State Senator Tom O’Mara says a Hornell man was entered into the New York State Senate’s Veterans Hall of Fame, largely for his work at the Bath VA.  Merle John Tobias was first in the National Guard and then joined the U.S. Army and was in Germany when the Berlin Wall came down.  At the Bath VA, Tobias has done a lot of work with homeless veterans and those suffering from substance abuse issues.

 

Road To Close In Lindley In Three Weeks 

Steuben County Public Works Commissioner Eric Rose says County Route 115 in the Town of Lindley will be closed starting July 29 and that’ll go till August 1.  Rose says, there won’t be an onsite detour, but that there will be an offsite detour on County Route 73.
