Early Voting Is Going On, Here's The Local Info On That

Early voting started last Saturday for all June 25 primaries.  Early voting lasts through Sunday at 5pm.  You can vote at the Steuben County Annex building at 20 East Morris Street in Bath.  The Steuben Board of Elections Commissioners say the towns of Avoca, Cohocton, Dansville, Prattsburgh, Pulteney, Wayland and Wheeler are the areas which will be in 24th Congressional District starting in January, but voters in those towns can vote now in the 24th congressional primary.  The candidates are GOP Congresswoman Claudia Tenney and Geneva Republican Mario Fratto.   Other primaries are in Bath and Wheeler: in Bath there’s that town clerk’s primary between Terra Thorpe and Tara Muller.  The Town of Wheeler’s town board primary is between Heather Trenchard and Jonathan Cole.  Also in Wheeler there is the Highway Superintendent’s primary between Douglas E. Towner and Richard J. Decker.

 

Bath Library Budget Passed In Tuesday June 18 Vote

There was a budget vote yesterday in Bath for the Dormann Library, the Dormann library budget passed, 92 to 27.

 

Schumer Gets Grants For Firefighters Nationwide

Democrat U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has introduced and gotten through, the Fire Grants and Safety Act.  It will get $750 million dollars to fire departments across the nation.  “Our firefighters are heroes, whether it’s the F.D.N.Y. or the volunteer firefighters in upstate New York,” Schumer said.

 

Canisteo And Allegany County Accident Victim Updates  

Yesterday we reported on a man who fell off a roof in Allegany County.  The sheriff there is now saying that it was a contract worker,  who was doing a job for Allegany County, who fell.  According to Allegany County Sheriff Scott Cicirello, the worker fell down a staircase leading to the roof of the building.  The latest is he was taken to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.   We also reported on a truck and pedestrian accident which happened on June 3, in the village of Canisteo.  We caught up with Steuben County D.A. Brooks Baker, who that the accident victim, a woman, is doing better, and that so far, there are no charges filed against the driver.
