Chase Leads To Arrest Of A Murder Suspect From Virginia
Allegany County State Troopers tried pulling over a car last night in the 5:00 hour and the car took off. The chase went into Steuben County and ended in the Avoca area after a tire deflation device popped the tires and the vehicle crashed. 23 year old Alyssa. Venable of Spotsylvania, Virginia, was taken into custody. She is said to be wanted there for three counts of second-degree murder and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Venable was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries. The New York State Police say extradition arrangements will be forthcoming.
Bath PD: Almost 100 Counterfiet Nike Snearkers Seized
The Bath Police Department reports that yesterday they seized 93 pairs of counterfeit Nike sneakers from a business located at 29 Liberty St along with other fake Nike products. Bath Police say that based on prices the store was selling the counterfeit items for, the amount in question was over $14,000.
Historical Society Walk, Postponed Until Next Friday
The Steuben County Historical Society says due to a chance of rain this afternoon, the free Hammondsport historic walk, has been postponed until 4pm next Friday, June 14
Some Local Youth Sports To Be Reimbursed
Steuben County officials say, sports related activities that take place between January 1 and September 30, which are sponsored by municipalities and non-profits can get funding from the office of children and family services. The funds are available through three separate programs: Youth Sports and Education Opportunity Funding, Youth Sports and Education Opportunity Infrastructure and Youth Team Sports.
Wallace Fire Dept Holding An Anniversary Event
The Wallace Fire Department is celebrating their 75th anniversary tomorrow by having a banquet at the Avoca American Legion. That’s tomorrow 8 p.m. till Midnight at the Legion in Avoca. The band, Southern Exit will be playing and the public is invited to attend.
