Ursula Stone Pled Guilty In Steuben County Court
A Steuben County Court official tells us that former Addison Clerk/Treasurer Ursula Stone has pleaded guilty to 1st degree corrupting the government. Sentencing will be on August 1 at 9:30 am and Ursula Stone could get three to nine years in prison. She was accused of stealing over a million dollars in her job, when she was clerk/treasurer in Addison.
Sheriff Allard Reports On Training For Local SWAT Team
Recently, members of the Steuben County Sheriff's SWAT team held a tactical medical and officer down/rescue training day. SWAT team members practiced medical life saving measures and carrying the deputy out of the woods for a couple miles. In addition, the team practiced saving civilians involved in active shooter situations.
Steuben County Dairy Festival Plans For This Saturday
The Steuben County Dairy Festival is this Saturday in Bath at the fairgrounds. It starts at 9:00am, the parade starts at 10:30am, county legislative chair Kelly Fitzpatrick will be this year’s parade marshall, also there will be a tractor pull at 12:30 and a bicycle giveaway at 2:00pm.
Governor Kathy Hochul And Student Cell Phones In Schools
Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul is trying to pass a law so that students cannot have smart phones in school. That’s according to the U.K. Guardian. The Guardian also reports that the governor wants to fine social media companies $5,000 every time those companies disobey the state laws on addictive and violent algorithims, end up on a child’s cell phone. The governor’s new law on cell phones for students, if passed, would allow for students to be able to text or call parents, if there was an emergency.
