Langworthy: Steuben Rural Electric's $$$ For Fred Damage

Congressman Nick Langworthy is getting Steuben Rural Electric a $2.3 million dollar FEMA grant to repair distribution lines damaged by Tropical Storm Fred in August of 2021.  "The Steuben Rural Electric Co-op plays a vital role in providing reliable electricity to our residents, and this federal funding will ensure that they can afford critical repairs to damaged lines,” said Congressman Langworthy. “Fortifying our power grid should be a major priority for communities across New York State — the infusion of $2.3 million is a step in the right direction for the Southern Tier’s continued access to electrical services.”

 

Schumer's Border Bill Was Blocked By Congressional GOP

Senator Schumer’s Democrat border bill was blocked yesterday.  From Governor Kathy Hochul:  “Here we go again: Republicans in Congress have once again blocked bipartisan legislation to secure our border and address the migrant and asylum seeker crisis.  The only way out of this crisis is for New York’s 10 Members of Congress who serve in the majority to march into Speaker Johnson’s office and demand he pass bipartisan legislation that helps New York.”

 

Some Good News - Firehouse Subs Are In The Area Soon

The Hammondsport Fire Department is going to be selling Firehouse Subs next week.  That’ll be this Monday May 27, through Saturday June 1.  Proceeds will benefit the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office’s K9 program. 

 

Have You Been Ordered To Do Community Service? 

Bath Police say, if anyone has a court ordered community service to do, police say they have a dedicated program where you can work supervised up to 12 hours per week on weekdays.  Bath Police say, just ask the Judge to sentence you to community service and stop on by the police department.
