Corning Man Convicted Of Raping A 17 Year old
Steuben County D.A. Brooks Baker reports that Demetrius Goree, 38, of Corning, has been found guilty by in court, of rape in the first degree, sexual abuse in the first degree and predatory sexual assault. Baker says, Steuben County Deputy District Attorney Joan Merry was the prosecutor. Joan Merry is praising the victim for having the courage to testify against Goree in open court. The Deputy D.A. is also thanking the Corning Police. Goree will be sentenced on August 5. Until then, he is remanded to Steuben County Jail.
Voting Day Is Tomorrow For School Board/Budgets
Voting hours on Tuesday, May 21, for Bath, Hammondsport, Avoca, Addison and Prattsburgh will be Noon to 8:00. Voting tomorrow in Bath is at the Bath school district office. In Hammondsport at the at the high school gym. In Avoca, voting is in the Avoca School Bus Garage. In Prattsburgh voting is at the school. For Addison school voters, you vote in the middle-high school library.
The BOCES Job Fair Will Be Held Tuesday, May 21
The BOCES job fair is tomorrow at the Coopers Plains BOCES from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. BOCES officials say to bring a letter of interest, a detailed résumé, copies of all undergraduate and graduate college transcripts, a copy of your High School Diploma or GED if no college, copies of current Certifications, Licenses or Registration Certificates, and one to three current, dated and signed reference letters.
