Steuben Co Fire Depts Respond To Yates County Fire

There was a bad fire last night in the Yates County Town of Dundee.  Two barns were on fire and two fire departments from Wayne and Hammondsport responded (with tankers).  Finger Lakes 1 reports that there were no injuries reported. 

Also, the National Weather Service says today’s weather includes gusty winds and low humidity and make for a risk of fire today.  

 

New Steuben County EMS Program Update 

Steuben County officials continue to work to get the new countywide Emergency Medical Services program going.  County Manager Jack Wheeler is now saying he hopes the supplemental paramedics part of the program will be starting up at the end May, in June the county is hoping to have the supplemental basic life support part of the program started.    

 

Jack Lisi Youth Awards Scheduled For June 10 In Bath

The Jack Lisi Youth Awards will be held June 10 at the auditorium at Haverling High School.  As many of our listeners remember, Jack Lisi was sheriff  of Steuben County from 1970 until 1987 (and a highly decorated World War II veteran.)

 

Hornell Native Goes On To Play Under Coach Sanders

Yahoo Sports reports that Hornell football player Rayyan Buell, from the Hornell class of 2019, is transferring from Ohio University to the University of Colorado to play under coach Deion Sanders.  Yahoo Sports reports that Rayyan Buell has also played for Rutgers, Northwest Mississippi Community College and Ohio University and was a very successful football player on those school’s teams.
