Three Outgoing County Lawmakers Were Honored

The Steuben County Legislature recently recognized three county lawmakers who will step down from office on December 31st.  They are: Corning Democrat Steve Mayo,   Wayland Democrat John Malter, and Republican Aaron Mullen, who represented Howard, Fremont, Avoca and Wheeler. 

LEGISLATOR STEVEN P. MAIO, we publicly note our appreciation and thanks to him for his public service to the residents of Steuben County as a member of the Legislature commencing January 2016, representing District 2. During Steve’s tenure on the Legislature, he served as a member of the Human Services, Health & Education Committee, a member and Vice Chair of the Public Safety & Corrections Committee, and member of the Public Works Committee. Steven has served with honor and distinction as a member of the Steuben County Legislature, having also served as a member of the Southern Tier Central Regional Planning & Development Board.

MALTER,We publicly note our appreciation and thanks to him for his public service to the residents of Steuben County as a member of the Legislature commencing January 2016, representing District 4. During John’s tenure on the Legislature, he served as a member of the Agriculture, Industry & Planning Committee, member of the Finance Committee, chair of the Public Safety & Corrections Committee, and member of the Public Works Committee. John has served with honor and distinction as a member of the Steuben County Legislature, having also served as a member of the 911 Advisory Board, Ad Hoc Office Space Committee, Local Emergency Planning Committee, and Southern Tier Extension Railroad Authority

MULLEN, we publicly note our appreciation and thanks to him for his public service to the residents of Steuben County as a member of the Legislature commencing January 2012, representing District 7. During Aaron’s tenure on the Legislature, he served as a member and Chair of the Agriculture, Industry & Planning Committee, member of Human Services, Health & Education Committee, member, Vice Chair and Chair of the Public Safety & Corrections Committee, and member of the Public Works Committee. Aaron has served with honor and distinction as a member of the Steuben County Legislature, having also served as a member of the 911 Advisory Board and Hall of Fame Committee.

 

Over 200 New - New York State Police Officers For 2024

Governor Kathy says that 232 new State Troopers graduated from the 213th session of the Basic School of the New York State Police Academy yesterday. The ceremony was held at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany.  

 

Allegany County Resident - Goes To Work At Bonaventure

A former top official with Alfred University, is taking a job at St. Bonaventure University.  Jason Amore, has been named Vice President for University Advancement at Bonaventure.

 

Steuben Co Litigation Update

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard’s lawsuit against the county over him having to pay for his own liability insurance out of pocket, that lawsuit originally was going to be in Steuben County Supreme Court yesterday.  However, it was adjourned to early January.

 

The Current Covid Numbers For Steuben County

Steuben County Public Health Director Darlene Smith says there are, these days, about 26 lab confirmed covid cases a day in steuben county.  Darlene Smith also says, if you need home test kits, you can get free ones from your local library.
