Auction Ends At Noon Today For Old National Bath Hotel

It’s almost over.  This posting is being made at 10:12am, and the online auction for 13 East Steuben Street in Bath, the old National Bath Hotel, that auction is scheduled to end at 12:00 Noon today.  When we checked in with the spokesperson for Williams and Williams Auctions in the 9am hour thiis morning, she said that there had not been an opening bid as of yet. 

 

LOCAL MAN GOING BACK TO PRISON ON NEW CHARGES

FROM THE U.S. ATTORNEYS OFFICE: 

U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced today that Ryan Hamilton, 32, of Bath, NY, who was convicted of possession of child pornography by an individual with a prior conviction, was sentenced to serve 162 months in prison and 15 years supervised release by U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa. Hamilton was also ordered to pay $18,000 in restitution to victims.  Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan K. McGuire, who handled the case, stated that in August 2016 and again in September 2017, Hamilton was convicted in Steuben County Court of Possessing Sexual Performance by Child Less than 16. In October 2019, while being supervised by New York State Parole, Hamilton possessed approximately 87 videos and 1,124 images of child pornography on an SD card. Some of the images and videos included children under the age of 12 and depictions of violence.  The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia, the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Eugene Staniszewski, and the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, under the direction of under the direction of Acting Commissioner Daniel F. Martuscello III.

 

Schumer: Hanukkah Comes At A Moment Of Grief 

U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer says, this year, "Hanukkah comes at a moment of grief, trial and fear for the Jewish people.  Schumer says, at the Congressional Menorah Lighting yesterday he was joined by the Bibas family, whose family members are being held hostage by Hamas. "  Schumer also says, we won’t stop until all hostages are released. 

 

Dems Undo Steuben Co Judge's Special Master Maps 

On Tuesday, the New York State Democrats won their lawsuit in the State Court of Appeals.  Because of this court victory, Democrats will be able to draw up the new maps for House of Representatives district lines, for New York State.  Governor Kathy Hochul and State Attorney General Tish James issued a joint statement, saying quote, “Yesterday’s redistricting decision will ensure all New Yorkers are fairly and equitably represented by elected officials.” The statement goes on to say, “We will continue our efforts to protect voting rights for all New Yorkers.”  Republican Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, disagrees.  “Instead of accepting the fair and competitive lines drawn by the Special Court Master that were used in the 2022 elections, Democrats have decided the lines needed to be redrawn because they lost control of Congress,” Palmesano stated. 

 

It's The National Guard's 387th Birthday Today

Assemblyman Palmesano also says, it’s the National Guard’s birthday.  The National Guard has been around, since the year 1636.  The first National Guard was formed in the state of Massachusetts.
