More Wind Projects Are Coming To Steuben County

We caught up yesterday, with Steuben County IDA Director Jamie Johnson, who says the Barron Wind Phase II which is in Fremont is in the final stages of getting the approval process.  Jamie Johnson says Barron Wind hopes to double the size of the Fremont area wind project in 2024.  As for Canisteo, the County IDA says the Canisteo wind project will likely happen in 2025.  Also, according to the County IDA Director, Hartsville and Prattsburgh and Avoca are also looking at setting up wind projects.  "They are just in the early stages of development and are probably two to three years out," Johnson tells WVIN.  Terra Gen is working on talking with property owners in Prattsburgh and Avoca.  "Avoca is going to be included in that project scope as well," said Johnson.  

 

Update On The Addison Village Hall Case

Ursula Stone, the former Addison Village clerk/treasurer, is accused of stealing over a million dollars from Addison Village Hall.  A Steuben County Court official says that Ursula Stone is set to be in the courtrooom on December 14th at 1:30pm. 

 

Bath Standoff Suspect Has An Upcoming Court Date

Larry Schoonover is the 51 year old Bath suspect who is accused of firing gunshots at law enforcement during a standoff back in August on Roosevelt Avenue in Bath.  Schoonover is scheduled to be in court on December 20 at 11am on that day.  This will be a motions argument on December 20. 

 

It Was On This Day, That A Trooper Was Killed In Corning

Today is the anniversary of the death of State Police Investigator Robert VanHall.  VanHall was shot and killed in Corning on December 5, 1980, as he and his partner were about to arrest two brothers for cocaine and marijuana charges.  Trooper Robert VanHall was also a Vietnam Veteran who was in the Green Berets.  He was 35 years old when he was killed in Corning in 1980.

 

Three White Males Wanted, By Chemung Co Sheriff 

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the individuals depicted in the attached photos. All three males are suspects in a larceny at the Best Buy store in Big Flats.  Anyone with information, or believes they may know these men, is asked to contact the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at (607)737-2933.
