Bath PD To Do DWI High Visibility Campaign

The Village of Bath Police Department will be participating in the state wide STOP-DWI Labor Day “High Visibility Engagement Campaign.” The state wide STOP-DWI Labor Day “High Visibility Engagement Campaign” started on August 19th, 2023 and will conclude on September 4th, 2023.    

 

Livingston Co Resident Accused Of Welfare Fraud Here

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports:  That on August 31, 2023, Investigators of the Steuben County Sheriff’s office arrested Jamie S. Swanke, age 42, of Wadsworth Street, Geneseo, New York.  It is alleged that from 10/04/2020 to 06/30/2021 Ms. Swanke offered two false instruments for filing to the Steuben County Department of Social Services and received benefits from the Steuben County Department of Social Services in the amount of $7995.00 that she was not eligible to receive.  Ms. Swanke is charged with Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree, a class E Felony and Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class D Felony.  Ms. Swanke was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released.  The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Steuben County Department of Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit, and the District Attorney’s Office.

State Comptroller Audits Avoca Central To See If Employees Watch Harassment Video For State Required Training 

Audit Objective

Determine whether Avoca Central School District (District) employees and Board of Education (Board) members completed annual sexual harassment prevention training (SHP Training).

Key Findings

SHP Training was not provided to all employees and any Board members. Of the 20 total individuals we tested (15 selected employees and all five Board members), four employees or 27 percent of employees tested and the five Board members did not complete the annual SHP Training.

Key Recommendations

Ensure all employees complete annual SHP Training and encourage Board members to complete the training.

District officials generally agreed with our recommendations and have indicated they planned to initiate corrective action.
